Every Thursday, the latest issue is sent to voice actors and other creative pros like you. Each message includes an idea to move you, a thought to touch you, and a quote to inspire you, as well as what I’m writing about that week on YouTube, on The VO Pro Podcast, and in The Pro Blog.
Move Touch InspireThe Newsletter for Voice Actors and Creative Pros An Idea To Move YouIf we want producers, studios, and the tech bros to respect our craft and our rights as performers, I believe we have to speak up while those decisions are still being made. After the fact is too late. This open letter organized by the Agents of Young Performers Association focuses on protecting child performers from having their voices replicated and exploited through AI without meaningful safeguards. Regardless of where you stand on AI more broadly, protecting children is something our industry has to support. If you agree, I strongly urge you to take one minute to sign the letter: A Thought to Touch You*Here’s where the vast majority of part-time VOs go sideways: They focus all their energy on tiny tweaks, obsess over finding the right agent, and throw money at platforms, but NEVER build serious, consistent pipeline volume. A Quote to Inspire YouActivist, actor, singer, and NFL player Paul Robeson on taking a stand against the challenges to artists, scientists, and writers... “Every artist, every scientist, must decide now where he stands. He has no alternative. There is no standing above the conflict on Olympian heights. There are no impartial observers. Through the destruction, in certain countries, of the greatest of man’s literary heritage, through the propagation of false ideas of racial and national superiority, the artist, the scientist, the writer is challenged. The struggle invades the formerly cloistered halls of our universities and other seats of learning. The battlefront is everywhere. There is no sheltered rear.” ~ June, 1937 On YouTube and the VO Pro PodcastThis week's *Thought to Move You is from our recent The #1 Biggest BLUNDER: Why You're Not Booking VO Gigs video.
